Adult Acting Intensive & Theatre Games

A course taught by Lynn Winters at the

Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) in Ithaca.

This course offers the adult actor a professional Acting Technique based on the Holistic Human as a template. Each class begins by warming up with Theatre Games, just for FUN and FREEDOM. The class moves into individual monologue work, followed by a Winters Acting Technique Lesson.

We examine our design through the Spiritual, Emotional, Intellectual and Physical aspect of the human being, to build a deeper understanding and create a more whole character. Providing a reliable and solid resource of skills along with an open perspective, this technique enhances any prior training and introduces a new actor to the world of Performing Arts.

"As a creative artist at heart, who has been working a regular 9-5, this course has been one of the very fun places, where I have felt most alive.  The instructor, Lynn is fantastic.  She is a seasoned teacher who brings a lot of vigor, joy and candor to each lesson.  She also has a unique approach to character development and structuring or laying out the groundwork for an actor that does not merely focus on what's on the page and how to move the body.  Her courses are exercises in building energy and power from the Soul out.  She is gifted at cultivating a sense of belonging and recognizing the intrinsic value of each of her students.  I have taken this class and I've grown as an artist, with practical tools given.  I feel like I have a better and clearer foundation and process in which to approach acting as a craft.  This is for anyone who personally is looking to build and nurture their own inner power and voice."

"Lynn's class is unlike any experience I've ever had in my entire life.  It is definitely a unique one.  Lynn will push you to do things outside of your comfort zone and challenge you as an actor, but she cares deeply about her students and strives to make them the best actors she possibly can.  Real acting requires hard work and if you are up for the challenge, you will gain so much from this class, including a safe space to express your true self without being judged by others and gain true friendships.  You will also have the choice to open up to others in a safe space.  I've taken this class for several months now and it's enriched my life in more ways than I can count."

Emily (Dryden, NY)

"I first started Lynn's class in order to infuse a little creativity into my life. Over time, this class has challenged me and shaped me, and inspired me to commit to something far deeper than what I expected. I'm so grateful for the journey that Lynn's class has opened up for me. If you're open to an artistic challenge that will open your mind-body-heart connection, this class is for you!"

Jeff (Ithaca, NY)

"I'm realizing that "Acting Class" is really a journey of self awareness, living fully in my body, previously lived emotion, energized movement and a tuning of the well spring of life. Lynn is a gifted person who deeply wants us to have it all. She creates a space that is safe and promotes love. I look forward all week to this time of purity but also of deep work. A mentor is Lynn."
